Moonbeams is designed for 7 & 8 yr olds and lasts three years. Moonbeams move quickly and learn through a sport-based theme which keeps this age group excited about music. The songs, ensembles and keyboard repertoire are designed to support their growing sense of independence. In the student's third and final year, they are thoroughly prepared for Grade One Conservatory examinations and have, in many cases, been awarded the Conservatory Silver Medal, the highest mark provincially, for Grade One Piano.
Even more important, the MYC graduates (and parents) are very highly motivated for further study in music and private teachers have found many of the students so well prepared for private lessons that they have accelerated them through Conservatory Grades Two and Three in one year! I will be offering new Moonbeams classes September 2017.
At the time of registration, parents pay a
Materials Fee. This amount is sent to MYC Head office and pays for your materials for the year. For first time students, the materials fee includes the MYC books A, B, + C, a tin sheet with magnets, a castanet, a technique toolbox, and an MYC bag to carry all your music items to and from class!
